This module was designed in response to the demands and needs of the Philippine K-12 Curriculum specifically the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) strand of the Senior High School. This module aims to assist the prospective teachers of the General Physics 1 & 2. This module is for teacher's use.

Completion timeframe for the delivery of this module is two weeks with one-hour classroom session which will then be equivalent to a total of 10 hours.

The authors hope that this module would be a valuable tool for the teachers in delivering the expected outcomes as stated in the curriculum. Further, the authors would like to obtain valuable feedback from the end-users who will utilize this module. Please refer to the 'About the Author' tab on how to contact them for your feedback. The authors will continuously develop the contents of this module with the relevant feedback provided by the end-users.

ABOUT THE MODULE

WORLDS FASTEST TRAINS - MAGLEV "capable" of 3,500 km/h. (2008, February 10). Retrieved December 1, 2015, from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIwbrZ4knpg

If you came from the province and travelled to Manila, you have probably travelled either by plane or by boat. Travelling by air within the Philippines would normally take an hour or so. Travelling by air is shorter compared with travelling by land or sea, the traffic congestion at the airport is now becoming unbearable. Travellers have the option to take cars, buses or boats but the time of travel is also too long. However, with the revolution in transportation, first-world countries are now enjoying fast-travel with their maglev trains.

Today, China and Japan are frontrunners in Asia when it comes to using maglev trains. Maglev is short for magnetic levitation, which means that these trains will float over a trailway (guideway) using the basic principles of magnets and electricity. The video above shows how fast the travel have become because of these maglev trains. Maglev trains use the principle of electromagnetic induction to operate.

Through this module, the relationship of electricity and magnetism will be explained leading to understanding how magnetic levitation train works.
